Daily Maintenance of Tractor Lifting Hydraulic Cylinders

Daily Maintenance of Tractor Lifting Hydraulic Cylinders

一. Daily Inspection Before Operation

1. Visually check the hydraulic cylinder barrel, piston rod, end caps and connecting joints for oil leakage, cracks, deformation or rust spots.

2. Observe whether there is oil seepage at sealing positions (gland seals, O-rings). Minor seepage needs timely maintenance; severe dripping must stop working immediately.

3. Check the surface of the piston rod: keep it clean, free of scratches, pits, mud and corrosive attachments. Damaged surfaces will quickly wear out seals and cause leakage.

4. Verify mounting pins, brackets and lock nuts are tight without looseness or abnormal play.

二. Regular Hydraulic Oil Maintenance

1. Use only the hydraulic oil grade specified by the tractor manufacturer. Do not mix different types or brands of oil.

2. Check oil level in the hydraulic tank daily. Maintain oil between the minimum and maximum scale lines; insufficient oil will lead to cylinder cavitation and abnormal noise.

3. Replace hydraulic oil and return oil filter elements strictly according to the service cycle. Dirty oil contains metal particles that scratch cylinder inner walls and seals.

4. Keep hydraulic oil clean. Avoid rainwater, dust and impurities entering the fuel filler port. Emulsified or deteriorated oil must be replaced right away.

三. Seal and Dust Cover Maintenance

1. Protect the dust wiper and outer seal on the piston rod. Clear mud, straw and debris frequently to prevent foreign matter from being pulled into the cylinder.

2. If seals harden, crack or age, replace them with original matching accessories instead of makeshift substitutes.

3. Do not disassemble the cylinder randomly. Professional tools and clean environments are required for seal replacement to avoid secondary pollution.

四. Correct Operation Habits to Reduce Wear

1. Do not overload the lifting mechanism for a long time. Excessive pressure will accelerate seal aging and cylinder deformation.

2. Avoid hitting the hydraulic cylinder with farm tools or hard objects during field work.

3. Do not keep the cylinder fully extended or fully retracted under continuous pressure for hours when parked. Release residual pressure properly.

4. Operate the lifting handle gently; avoid rapid, violent lifting and lowering which creates hydraulic impact and damages internal components.

五. Seasonal & Long-Term Storage Maintenance

1. Before winter storage: retract the piston rod completely inside the hydraulic cylinder to expose the least metal surface to air and prevent rust. Coat the exposed part with anti-rust grease if necessary.

2. In cold seasons, preheat the hydraulic system at low idle speed before heavy-duty work to reduce oil viscosity and ensure smooth cylinder movement.

3. For long-term idle tractors: inspect the hydraulic cylinder every 2 months, check for leakage and rust, and perform slow telescopic movements occasionally.

六. Common Fault Handling Notes

- Abnormal shaking or jamming during lifting: stop use, check for bent piston rods, deformed hydraulic cylinders or stuck impurities.

- Slow lifting speed: check oil pressure, oil viscosity and clogged filters first.

- Persistent oil leakage: do not tighten end caps excessively, as over-tightening will crush seals permanently.
