Hydraulic cylinders are core load-bearing and actuating components of mining equipment. Due to harsh working conditions such as heavy load, frequent impact, dust and muddy environment in mines, standardized daily maintenance is essential to ensure stable operation, reduce failures and extend service life. The daily maintenance and upkeep specifications are as follows.
1. Daily Inspection (Every Working Day)
1.1 Appearance and Sealing Inspection
Check the cylinder body, piston rod, end caps and oil ports for oil leakage, oil seepage or bubble phenomena. Observe whether the piston rod surface is smooth, without scratches, dents, rust, or particle adhesion. Any slight leakage at the rod seal or joint shall be recorded and handled in time to prevent further seal damage under mining heavy-load operation.
1.2 Operating Condition Check
During equipment operation, monitor the cylinder stretching and retracting process. Ensure the movement is stable, without crawling, jitter, lag, abnormal noise or impact. Check whether the cylinder can maintain pressure steadily under static load, and confirm no obvious rod sinking or automatic retraction.
1.3 External Cleaning and Protection
Clean dust, mineral residue, mud and attachments on the piston rod surface and cylinder outer wall every day. Keep the dust cover intact to prevent sand and impurities from entering the seal assembly, which is the main cause of early wear and oil leakage of mining cylinders.
2. Weekly Maintenance
2.1 Fastener and Connection Inspection
Check all cylinder mounting bolts, pin shafts, flanges and pipe joints. Tighten loose fasteners in time to avoid structural vibration and thread loosening caused by long-term mining impact loads. Inspect the pin shaft lubrication and connection clearance to ensure flexible rotation without jamming.
2.2 Hydraulic Oil Status Check
Check the hydraulic oil level, oil color and cleanliness. Turbid, emulsified or blackened oil must be replaced timely. Inspect the hydraulic filter clogging indicator and replace the filter element if overloaded. Keep the oil clean to avoid valve blockage and cylinder abrasion caused by impurity particles.
2.3 Buffer and Limit Function Test
Test the cylinder buffer performance during stroke start and end. Ensure the buffer works effectively without rigid impact. Check the travel limit structure to guarantee accurate positioning and avoid over-stroke damage to the cylinder barrel and internal components.
3. Monthly Maintenance
3.1 Seal and Wear Detection
Focus on checking the wear and aging degree of oil seals, dust seals, O-rings and guide sleeves. Mining cylinders bear frequent impact and alternating load, so slight aging or hardening of seals must be replaced in advance to prevent sudden leakage failure.
3.2 Rod Surface and Anti-rust Maintenance
Inspect the chrome-plated layer of the piston rod for peeling, corrosion or point rust. Polish minor rust spots and apply anti-rust grease to protect the rod surface. Avoid long-term exposure of the piston rod in a retracted state in humid mine environments.
3.3 Load Pressure Testing
Perform full-load pressure holding test. Verify that the cylinder working pressure and sealing performance meet standard requirements, without internal leakage pressure relief. Check the synchronization performance of double-cylinder lifting systems to eliminate height deviation.
4. Regular Overhaul Maintenance (Every 2000 Working Hours)
- Completely disassemble, clean and inspect the cylinder barrel, piston, piston rod, guide ring and internal buffer components.
- Replace all sealing kits, wear rings and guide sleeves to restore the original sealing and movement accuracy.
- Check the inner wall of the cylinder barrel for scratches, strain and wear, and perform grinding or replacement if defects exist.
- Reassemble and fill with clean hydraulic oil, conduct no-load and full-load cycle tests to ensure smooth operation and zero leakage.
5. Important Operation Precautions
1. Strictly prohibit overloading and over-stroke operation to avoid permanent deformation of the piston rod and cylinder barrel.
2. Prevent eccentric load and lateral force during operation, which will cause unilateral wear of seals and guide sleeves.
3. Stop the machine immediately once abnormal noise, jitter, oil leakage or pressure loss occurs; do not operate with faults.
4. During long-term shutdown, retract the piston rod completely and apply anti-rust oil, and cover with dust-proof protective cover.
5. Only use standard and manufacturer-recommended hydraulic oil and seal accessories to ensure mining durability.
